Job overview As an Assistant Vice President - Digital Engineering, you will lead the engineering strategy, delivery, and operations for AT&T’s web platforms, including att.com. You will build and scale a high-performing digital engineering organization while driving an engineering-first mindset across the web channel. Partnering closely with product, digital, and business leaders, you will translate business priorities into a multi-year technology roadmap that modernizes platforms, improves customer experience, and accelerates AT&T’s digital ambitions. What you’ll do Lead and scale a world-class web engineering organization responsible for designing, building, and operating high-traffic, customer-facing platforms. Own the end-to-end engineering lifecycle for web platforms, ensuring performance, scalability, reliability, and SLA compliance across environments. Set technical strategy and roadmap in partnership with product and business leaders, prioritizing modernization, performance, and customer experience outcomes. Drive agile delivery, vendor partnerships, and financial discipline to ensure initiatives are delivered on time and within budget. Establish KPIs and operating metrics to measure site performance, platform health, delivery effectiveness, and customer experience impact. Represent web technology in executive forums, communicating progress, risks, and opportunities while influencing enterprise digital strategy. What you’ll need Expertise in large-scale web platform architecture, performance optimization, and site reliability engineering. Experience leading software development lifecycle execution across modern web technologies and agile methodologies. Strong capability managing platform SLAs, incident response, and operational excellence for high-traffic digital environments. Proven ability to partner with vendors, consultants, and internal teams to deliver complex technology initiatives. Experience defining, tracking, and reporting KPIs related to platform performance, availability, and customer experience. What you’ll bring Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (preferred). 10+ years of progressive leadership experience within engineering or IT organizations focused on digital platforms and customer experience. Preferred experience in core web technologies: React, Redux, Next.js, TypeScript, HTML, Tailwind CSS, Bit, Java, Node.js, Spring Boot, Kafka, GraphQL, MuleSoft, Sanity.io, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Redis, Cassandra, Akamai Demonstrated success leading large, multi-layered engineering teams and people managers. Experience shaping long-term technology strategy and aligning engineering investments to business goals. Strong stakeholder leadership with the ability to influence across business, product, and technology organizations.
