This position will be responsible for tasks such as development of best practices and repeatable procedures for deploying databases, day-to-day operational activities including break/fix, capacity management, backup and recovery, database replication setup/management and ongoing database change reviews. The candidate will also build and maintain large-scale and very high transaction PostgreSQL databases in both public and private cloud installations.  They will also work in tandem with the other teams, preparing documentations and specifications as required.</p><p></p><p></p><p><b><span>Job Duties / Key Accountabilities:</span></b></p><p></p><ul><li>Provision PostgreSQL instances, both in clustered and non-clustered configurations</li><li>Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases.</li><li>Implement, and maintain replication strategies.</li><li>Analyze performance and implement improvements.</li><li>Prepare documentations and specifications.</li><li>Experience in database software management (patch and version management)</li><li>Handle common database procedures, such as backup, recovery, migration, etc.</li><li>Profile server resource usage, optimize and tweak as necessary.</li><li>Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.</li><li>Write scripts to generate adhoc reports, perform data audits, etc using bash or Python.</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills</li><li>24/7 Support of production databases.</li></ul><p></p><p></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><h2><b>Qualifications</b></h2><p></p><p></p><p><b>Required:</b></p><ul><li>Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL database management and optimization</li><li>Experience managing large scale PostgreSQL databases.</li><li>Understanding of PostgreSQL user access and authentication processes and controls.</li><li>Experience with replication configuration in PostgreSQL</li><li>Hands on experience with designing and implementing database replication strategies.</li><li>Knowledge of de-facto standards and best practices in PostgreSQL</li><li>Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements.</li><li>Knowledge of PostgreSQL features, such as pgagent or pgbouncer.</li><li>Ability to plan resource requirements from high level specifications.</li><li>Knowledge of limitations in PostgreSQL and their workarounds in contrast to other popular relational databases.</li><li>Experience administering Debian or Ubuntu Linux.</li><li>Able to work under pressure and multi-task.</li><li>Pro-active, dedicated, committed and responsible.</li></ul><p></p><p></p><p><b>Desired:</b></p><ul><li>Experience managing MySQL or SQL Server.</li><li>Ubuntu System Administration.</li><li>Experience with Redis.</li><li>Experience with Zabbix.</li><li>Experience with RabbitMQ.</li><li>Industry experience - either in iLottery or iGaming.</li></ul><p></p><p><br><b>Ed</b><b>ucation:</b></p><ul><li><span>Bachelor’s degree in computer sciences with 5+ years’ experience with PostgreSQL.</span></li><li>Master’s degree with 3+ years’ experience.</li><li>Certified PostgreSQL DBA is a plus.</li></ul><p></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p><span>SG is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate against applicants due to race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other federal, state or local protected class.
