Job Summary

Houston Skilled Consultancy is actively seeking dedicated and motivated Food Packaging Workers for leading grocery and food production companies across the UK. This role is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and are looking to build a long-term career in the manufacturing and food processing sector. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate packaging machinery and assist with the manual packaging of food products in compliance with hygiene and safety standards.

  • Sort, label, seal, and box food products such as bakery items, dairy, ready meals, meats, or snacks.

  • Conduct quality checks to ensure food items meet production and packaging standards.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere strictly to health and safety regulations.

  • Collaborate with team members to meet daily production and packaging targets.

  • Monitor expiry dates, barcodes, and packaging consistency.

  • Support loading/unloading of items and ensure timely dispatch of packaged goods.

  • Report any issues or malfunctions with equipment to supervisors immediately.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high hygiene standards.

  • Physically fit and able to stand for long periods and lift light-to-moderate weights.

  • Willingness to work in a temperature-controlled food production environment.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a diverse team.

Experience

  • No formal experience required; training will be provided on the job.

  • Previous experience in food production, packaging, or factory/warehouse roles is an advantage but not mandatory.

Working Hours

  • Full-time role: 37.5 to 48 hours per week.

  • Flexible shift patterns available: Day, Night, and Weekend shifts.

  • Overtime available depending on production demand.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of food safety, HACCP guidelines, or manufacturing GMP (preferred but not essential).

  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining quality standards.

  • Basic understanding of health and safety practices in a manufacturing/packaging environment.

  • Adaptability to changing priorities and processes in a high-volume production line.
