Online Bookkeeping Assistant – Work From Home

Job Summary

Progressive Technology is seeking a meticulous and reliable Online Bookkeeping Assistant to support our finance team with routine accounting tasks. This fully remote position is ideal for candidates with a solid foundation in bookkeeping, strong attention to detail, and a passion for working with numbers. You will be responsible for helping ensure that financial records are accurate, up to date, and compliant with internal and external standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update daily financial records using bookkeeping software (QuickBooks, Xero, or similar).

  • Assist with tracking income and expenses and reconciling accounts.

  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing and payment processing.

  • Support payroll data entry and coordination with the HR department.

  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

  • Organize digital receipts, bills, and relevant documentation in cloud storage.

  • Identify and flag discrepancies or irregularities in financial transactions.

  • Collaborate with the finance team to support audits and budget preparations.

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proficiency in bookkeeping or accounting software such as QuickBooks, FreshBooks, Xero, or Zoho Books.

  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel or Google Sheets, especially for financial calculations and reporting.

  • Good understanding of financial concepts including accounts receivable, payable, and reconciliation.

  • Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Basic knowledge of tax and payroll regulations (preferred but not mandatory).

  • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently in a remote setup.

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).

Experience

  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a finance-related role preferred.

  • Freshers with a strong foundation in accounting principles and practical training are also encouraged to apply.

Working Hours

  • Flexible scheduling available

  • Minimum commitment: 20 hours per week

  • Option to scale up to full-time hours based on performance and availability

  • Must be available for at least one weekly check-in during standard business hours
