Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. The American Heart Association is a leading voluntary health organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke. The Data Analyst Intern will support the National Center of Development Operations team by analyzing program data to provide insights that advance the organization's mission.


Responsibilities

  • Retrieving, processing, and analyzing program data
  • Clean, organize, and validate datasets related to programs, donors, or operations
  • Build reports and dashboards using Excel and Tableau
  • Assist with exploratory analysis to identify trends in participation, fundraising, or outcomes
  • Document data sources and definitions to improve data clarity
  • Help present findings to cross-functional teams in clear, visual formats for non‑technical audiences

Skills

  • Senior-level undergraduate students or graduate students in data science, computer science, statistics, math, economics, or related fields
  • Demonstrated skill in building dashboards in Tableau
  • Excellent proficiency in Excel
  • Attention to detail and curiosity
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to deal professionally in a corporate or non-profit environment and assume responsibility for guiding projects and programs from inception through completion
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities
  • Intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection
  • Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm Central
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future
  • Exposure to SQL or Python/R preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of data analysis or statistical analysis methodologies preferred
  • Knowledge of UI/UX design principles to create intuitive and visually appealing data visualizations
