Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Warehouse Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of warehouse activities, including materials handling, stock management, and shipping and receiving processes. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills in warehouse management systems and mechanical operations within a dynamic environment.

Duties

  • Assist with the loading and unloading of goods using appropriate equipment such as forklifts
  • Manage stock levels through accurate stocking, picking, and packing of items
  • Operate warehouse management systems (such as AS400) to track inventory and order processing
  • Conduct shipping and receiving tasks, ensuring timely dispatch and receipt of goods
  • Handle materials safely, adhering to health and safety regulations
  • Maintain organisation within the warehouse to optimise space utilisation and efficiency
  • Support with basic mechanical tasks related to warehouse equipment maintenance
  • Assist in construction or assembly tasks as required for specialised storage solutions or shelving units
  • Perform heavy lifting safely when moving large or bulky items

Requirements

  • Proven experience working in a warehouse environment with knowledge of stock management and materials handling
  • Valid forklift licence is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems, particularly AS400, is advantageous
  • Mechanical knowledge or experience with construction activities is beneficial
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in stocking, picking, and packing processes
  • Experience in shipping & receiving operations is preferred
  • Good understanding of health and safety procedures within a warehouse setting
  • Prior experience with warehouse equipment such as forklifts is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
