Software and AI Engineering Apprentice, Work-Study Program (No Tech Background Required) | Flatiron School | Handshake

Other Jobs To Apply

This is a career training program, not a standard job opening. You'll earn approximately $19,500 through a paid apprenticeship - and those earnings are applied directly toward your tuition, making the effective program cost $0. If you're looking for a salaried role with net take-home pay, this program is not the right fit.

About the Program

Flatiron School's AI Engineering Immersive is an 18-month, learn-and-earn program for career changers who want to break into software and AI engineering, no technical background needed. You'll train full-time and, starting in Month 5, get matched with a real employer partner to work 20 hours/week on actual software projects while finishing your coursework. Your apprenticeship earnings cover the full cost of tuition through a monthly installment plan, so by graduation, you have real-world experience, a production portfolio, and two certificates, at no out-of-pocket tuition cost.

How the 18 Months Work

Months 1-4: Full-time Software Engineering coursework - foundations, modern engineering practices, and team workflows. Months 5-18: 20 hrs/week paid apprenticeship with an employer partner and 20 hrs/week AI & Data Science coursework. Your earnings begin here and are applied to tuition monthly.

What You'll Learn and Do

  • Foundations of software development and modern engineering practices
  • How software engineering and AI/data science intersect in production products
  • Agile workflows, code reviews, and team collaboration
  • Contribute to real software projects alongside experienced engineers
