People Story is on the lookout for a strategic and commercially driven Account Director (Digital Media / Performance Media) to join a global digital agency in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Our client is an established digital media agency and is looking for a talented Account Director to lead senior client relationships for one of their biggest accounts in Asia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Spearhead key client relationships and act as a trusted strategic partner for senior stakeholders across the region.
  • Anticipate client needs, proactively shape agendas, and resolve issues before they escalate.
  • Translate complex business challenges into clear strategy frameworks and compelling narratives.
  • Own quality control of all client-facing deliverables, including regional decks, frameworks, and strategic narratives.
  • Manage trade-offs between short-term efficiency and long-term brand growth, framing recommendations clearly for senior stakeholders.
  • Bring structure, clarity, and strong governance to complex, multi-market programs.
  • Coach and mentor Senior Managers, Planners, and cross-functional team members across the region.
  • Stay up to date with trends in media, MarTech, measurement, and creative to identify and develop new revenue opportunities.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in media agencies with a proven track record managing regional accounts across Southeast Asia (SEA). Full-funnel media campaign experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience managing large regional clients and engaging with senior stakeholders across multiple markets.
  • Strong knowledge of Search, Social, and Programmatic channels, with deep expertise in Search and Social.
  • Comfortable navigating industry research platforms such as Sensor Tower, Similarweb, GWI, and WARC.
  • Commercially proactive, hands-on, and highly delivery-oriented with a focus on delivering top-quality campaigns.
  • Fluency in both English and Mandarin Chinese is required.
