Key Responsibilities: Data Modelling & Semantic Design Design, build, and maintain high-performance tabular models within Power BI using best practices for DAX, M, and schema design.

Develop semantic models optimised for speed, scalability, and maintainability, considering VertiPaq storage and formula engine behaviour.

Build reusable and certified datasets that support self-service analytics and enterprise reporting.

Translate business logic and analytical requirements into efficient DAX expressions and calculated tables.

Apply context transition, relationship management, and filter propagation principles to ensure accurate results. Platform & Governance Manage workspaces, dataflows, and dataset deployments within Power BI Service.

Enforce model version control, dataset certification, and performance standards.

Collaborate with IT and governance teams to ensure compliance with data security, retention, and access control frameworks.

Contribute to BI development standards, naming conventions, and reusable component libraries. Collaboration & Integration Work closely with Analytics Engineers to align semantic models with curated data marts and warehouse structures.

Partner with BI Analysts to interpret functional requirements and translate them into optimal model design.

Support business teams in adopting and understanding shared datasets, promoting consistency across reports. Performance & Optimisation Monitor and tune model performance, focusing on storage engine efficiency, query folding, and memory optimisation.

Diagnose and resolve DAX performance issues using profiling and monitoring tools.

Maintain a deep understanding of VertiPaq engine behaviour, storage and formula engine interaction, and context transition.

Continuous

Improvement Contribute to automation and CI/CD processes for Power BI deployment and testing.

Stay informed on Power BI roadmap developments, Tabular modelling advancements, and performance optimisation techniques.

Support the evolution of BI architecture to enable AI-assisted and predictive analytics capabilities Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field.

3–5 years of experience designing and developing enterprise-grade Power BI solutions.

Proven expertise in DAX, M (Power Query), and dimensional/tabular data modelling.

Strong understanding of relational and star-schema database design.

Preferred Experience

Advanced knowledge of Power BI architecture, VertiPaq engine, and performance tuning techniques.

Experience with Tabular or Analysis Services models (SSAS, Azure AS).

Familiarity with modern data platforms and cloud services.

Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation for BI artefacts.

Understanding of governance frameworks such as dataset certification, RLS, and workspace management.

Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with attention to performance and detail.

Ability to collaborate effectively with data engineers, analysts, and business users.

Interest in the integration of AI and advanced analytics into BI solutions.
