Contract Platform Engineer

CBS Digital is looking for a Contract Platform Engineer to help build operate and evolve the cloudnative platform that powers CBS Sports Digital and related CBS Digital products This role will focus on Kubernetes GitOps cloud infrastructure deployment automation observability and platform reliability for content sports media and consumerfacing applications

You will work closely with application engineering DevOps product and infrastructure teams to improve the developer experience standardize delivery workflows and support the migration and modernization of workloads across AWS and OCIOKE environments

What You Will Do

Operate Kubernetes Platforms Support and improve Kubernetesbased application platforms across EKS OKE and related cloud environments

Drive GitOps Delivery Build and maintain Argo CDbased deployment workflows including ApplicationSets appofapps patterns environmentspecific values and safe production sync practices

Support Helm Chart Workflows Work with shared Helm chart libraries OCI chart publishing chart versioning and perapplication configuration repositories

Improve Developer Experience Create reusable platform patterns documentation templates runbooks and tooling that make it easier for application teams to deploy and operate services

Cloud Migration Support Help modernize and migrate workloads from AWSbased infrastructure toward OCIOKE where appropriate including secrets ingress networking observability and deployment changes

Platform Reliability Improve monitoring alerting logging tracing SLOs and operational visibility for shared platform services and application workloads

Infrastructure Automation Contribute to infrastructureascode CICD automation Kubernetes manifests Helm charts and GitOps repositories

Security MultiTenancy Support RBAC namespace boundaries AppProject policies secretmanagement patterns and secure access to platform resources

Incident Operational Support Troubleshoot deployment failures Kubernetes issues Argo CD drift chart rendering problems resource health and production reliability issues

Collaborate Across Teams Partner with CMS Sports Games Media QA Engineering Shared Services Network Engineering and InfoSec stakeholders

Required Qualifications

Strong handson experience with Kubernetes in production environments

Experience operating Argo CD or similar GitOps deployment systems

Experience with Helm Kustomize Kubernetes YAML and Gitbased deployment workflows

Cloud experience with AWS OCI or similar cloud providers

Familiarity with containerized application delivery using Docker and Kubernetes

Experience with CICD systems such as GitHub Actions Jenkins CircleCI or similar

Strong troubleshooting skills across Kubernetes workloads networking ingress DNS secrets and deployment pipelines

Working knowledge of observability tools such as Prometheus Grafana Loki Tempo Datadog CloudWatch or OCInative monitoring

Experience with Git workflows pull requests code review and environment promotion

Ability to write clear documentation operational runbooks and platform guidance for application engineers

Strong communication skills and comfort working with distributed engineering teams

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Argo CD ApplicationSets AppProjects multicluster deployment and production sync strategies

Experience publishing and consuming OCI Helm charts especially from GitHub Container Registry or OCIR

Experience with External Secrets Operator AWS Secrets Manager OCI Vault or Vaultbased secret workflows

Experience with Terraform OpenTofu Crossplane or other infrastructureascode tools

Experience supporting migrations from AWS EKS to OCI OKE

Familiarity with ingress controllers load balancers WAFCDN patterns Fastly Cloudflare or similar edge infrastructure

Experience designing multitenant Kubernetes platforms with RBAC namespaces quotas and policy enforcement

Familiarity with Grafana LGTM stack OpenTelemetry or managed observability platforms

Scripting or development experience in Go Python Bash TypeScript or similar

Experience supporting hightraffic media sports CMS or consumer digital platforms
